We Wrote a Book: Visualize Your Professional Future
I have always returned to Simon Sinek’s “Start with Why” as a guiding principle, both professionally and personally. I regularly ask myself and my team, “Why are we here?” and “What problem are we trying to solve?” These simple questions help us stay focused and aligned before diving into the work.
So, in that spirit, let’s start this blog by sharing why we wrote our upcoming book, Visualize Your Professional Future.
The short answer? We needed an outlet.
We had been carrying and evolving frameworks, ideas, and coaching principles in our heads for years. Writing them down brought clarity, not just for us but for the people we support. There is something powerful about being able to say, “Let’s turn to chapter four,” when offering guidance on a career challenge.
The second reason is that we were already sharing these insights with our mentees. Time and again, we offered the same tools and recommendations to help them navigate career decisions and opportunities. Writing a book allowed us to package that support into a resource that could reach more people.
The third reason is that we needed to make room for what is next. As our thinking continued to evolve, we felt drawn to explore deeper topics, such as navigating career disruptions, managing pivots, and finding harmony between personal values and professional ambitions. Putting our core framework on paper created the space to grow and expand into those conversations.
And finally, we wanted feedback. By putting our ideas in writing, we are inviting readers into the conversation. We want to hear what resonates, what sparks reflection, and what could be improved. That input helps us sharpen our recommendations and ensure we continue to offer relevant and valuable guidance. This book is just one step in an ongoing journey of learning and growth. We hope it helps you with yours.
