What Do We Mean by Strategy? 

In simple terms, strategy is a high-level plan to get from where you are today to where you want to be tomorrow. 

The word itself comes from the Greek strategos, meaning “the art of the general.” At its core, strategy is about direction, foresight, and making choices that give you the best chance to succeed. 

Applied to your career, strategy is what turns random steps into purposeful moves. 

• Without a strategy, it’s easy to drift—taking jobs as they come, saying yes to whatever’s in front of you, and hoping hard work alone will eventually get you somewhere fulfilling. 

Before you make a move, write a plan, or set a goal, you first need to create a picture in your mind of what you are aiming for. 

Sometimes that vision is vivid, like a scene from a movie.

We began by listening closely to the real questions people ask when they feel stuck, uncertain, or ready for more. Questions like, “What should I do next?” “How do I know this is the right move?” and “How do I navigate a difficult role?” kept coming up in coaching sessions and conversations with mentees. 

These questions stem from inner reflection, values, passions, fears, and ambitions. Instead of offering quick answers, we wanted to create a process to help every professional pause, reflect, and make decisions that were both strategic and personal.

We had been carrying and evolving frameworks, ideas, and coaching principles in our heads for years. Writing them down brought clarity, not just for us but for the people we support.
